Ling Cod, Cabezon, lots of rockfish, lots of worms, longfin sculpins

My Own Personal Rating:

7/10

Directions/Coordinates:

Follow directions to the Edmonds Ferry.  Turn left on Dayton, then right on Railroad Ave.  (You'll pass by Underwater Sports on the left if you need any last minute items...)  Keep going through the stopsign by the ferry entrance.  The parking lot is straight ahead.

I've never been to a place quite like this before.  It's neat and intriguing, yet has a "fake" feel to it.  The neat and intriguing part is the life.  The ling cod and cabezon are huge and abundant.  The rockfish, especially by the Triumph, are also plentiful.  Lots of worms, which I always enjoy...  And the longfin sculpins were out and about today.  They are such a beautiful fish.

If you've never been to this site before, stop in and pay $10 (cash or check only) for a laminated map you can take with you underwater.  It supports the park to help keep it safe for divers.  (Line, markers, floats, etc.)  Our trip was a surface swim down to the first buoy on Jetty Way.  We descended, and headed west, stopping along the way to see lots of life.  We ventured by the cathedrals, then over to the Triumph, which is quite an impressive old tug that's been scuttled and is covered in life.  Once we reached turnaround pressure (alright...once I reached turnaround pressure), we headed back in.  It ended up being a 97 minute dive, with a maximum depth of 41 fsw.  Temps on November 22 were about 52 degrees.  I really enjoyed the life here, but I felt kind of weird being in such a "scripted" place...but I guess you could venture out here without using the lines if you wanted more adventure.
