My Own Personal Rating:

Directions/Coordinates:

Hwy 705 in Tacoma, north...Schuster Way...to Ruston...the parking is on the right side of the road right after the big red fire boat.  Trust me, you'll know what I'm talking about when you drive by it.  Park at the far end of the lot, as you'll be walking down the sidewalk to get to the entry point.  You'll have to walk down some "stairs" to get to the small beach to enter.

Other Reviews, Site Maps and Resources for This Site:

PNWScuba Review, Sea Otter Review, Aerial Photo (The dive site is "above" the wake of the boat on the right, to the right of the fishing pier.  Yep, stay away from the fishing pier.)

Boy, was this a disappointing dive.  Tim and I dove this after diving Sunnyside earlier, and we were disappointed.  Some of the reviews we read discussed abundant life.  Others said it was boring.  Well, we found it on a boring day.  The vis was horrible, maybe 8 feet at best, and there wasn't much life.  From the beach, we headed straight out and found the first of the concrete pilings/blocks in around 35 fsw.  On the way to the pilings, I spotted a number of white feather duster worms (I think they're feather dusters) that were very cool.  As soon as I got close at all, they'd retract their plumage.  Once we poked around the pilings, we saw a few things of interest...painted greenling, vermillion stars, plumose, and a nice size brown (?) rockfish.  I also saw my first scallop here.  Otherwise, this was a ho-hum dive.  We didn't spot any octos, although I'm guessing there are a bunch that live in the crevices of the concrete pilings.  Would I dive this site again?  Maybe, if I went with somebody that could convince me that it would be worth it.
