Directions/Coordinates:
|
Take Hwy 518 east towards Burien from I-5. Go until it ends and turns into 148th. Keep going straight through a few lights...then turn left (south) on Ambaum. Then turn right (east) on 152nd. Then...uh, I just remember how to get there...it's hard to describe. Turn left by a private school...follow the road way down, then turn left around a sharp corner at a stop sign...look for the beach access after a quick right hand turn. I'll try to get better directions. |

Description:

This site in Des Moines is hard to get to, has poor parking, no facilities, and a longish walk to the water...yet I keep going back. (OK, I kinda borrowed that line from SeaOtter, and modified it a bit. It's a GREAT website.) The tire reefs out from shore are full of life. I could spend an entire dive just looking around one reef. I highly recommend this dive site if you're in the Puget Sound area. It is outstanding. (But a bit hard to find...make sure you get directions that are better than the ones I've got here.) At this point, I can't even think of all of the different things I've seen there. My first dive here seemed almost overwhelming. A note about this site: The beach access is very small and close to houses. Please respect the property owners. Let's keep this open as a dive site. It's worth it!
