Owen Beach - October 28th, 2006 - REEF Survey Quarterly Dive
REEF, and Valerie and Georgia, hosted a
Quarterly Dive at Owen Beach at Point Defiance in Tacoma. These dives are
intended to encourage divers to complete REEF Survey Forms. Tim and I have
worked on surveying all of our dives, and we're getting more involved with REEF,
so this was a great chance to meet other folks. We also took (and passed!)
our "Level 3" test to move up in the Critter Watching levels. (Janna
Nichols and PNWScuba have lots of
information about how to get involved in surveying. I highly recommend
it.) This was my first dive at Owen Beach. It's a nice
site...although we hit some pretty strong current on our first dive. It's
a sloping rocky/sandy bottom, but it has quite a bit of life. Lots of
anemones, seastars of various assortment, and many more fish than I would have
predicted.
